Personal AI

AI is not only for work.

For many readers, the most useful starting point may be personal projects:

  • organising travel memories
  • planning a family event
  • sorting household admin
  • drafting letters or forms
  • preparing for medical or financial appointments
  • helping with charity or community work
  • turning messy notes into something structured
  • making sense of a large set of documents, photos, or messages

The Important Distinction

AI is strongest when it works with information:

  • text
  • notes
  • dates
  • lists
  • decisions
  • instructions
  • rough ideas
  • summaries
  • descriptions

It is not always practical to upload every file, photo, or document into a chatbot.

The better pattern is often:

  1. Keep the large files in the right app.
  2. Use AI to create a plan, structure, checklist, or draft.
  3. Let the specialist app do the specialist job.
  4. Use AI again to review, caption, summarise, or improve the result.

That is still agentic AI. The AI is not magically doing everything itself. It is helping convert a vague human goal into clearer instructions for tools.

Personal Examples

Personal Task How AI Can Help What Usually Stays In The App
Travel photobook Turn diary notes into a story spine, chapter list, captions, and photo-selection checklist. Full photo library, final image selection, page layout, printing.
Charity admin Draft agendas, volunteer notes, donor updates, policy summaries, and action lists. Official records, bank details, safeguarding decisions, final approvals.
Family history Organise notes, draft interview questions, summarise documents, and create timelines. Original documents, photo scans, family corrections.
Household paperwork Explain letters, create task lists, draft replies, and compare options. Secure portals, signatures, payments, legal decisions.
Travel planning Compare possible routes, build packing lists, summarise visa rules, and draft itineraries. Bookings, passports, payments, final checks.

A Better Starter Exercise

If weekly meetings are not part of your life, choose a personal project instead.

Examples:

  • "I want to make a photobook of a trip."
  • "I want to organise charity paperwork."
  • "I want to prepare for a hospital appointment."
  • "I want to sort old family photos."
  • "I want to plan a long holiday."

Then define:

  • the goal
  • the material you already have
  • what must stay private
  • what AI can help organise
  • what specialist app will do the final work
  • what you will review yourself

That is the same operating-loop idea, but applied to ordinary life.
